Amika thermal brush: This Is My Favorite Hot Tool For Faking a Blowout in Under 7 Minutes in 2024

It should come as no surprise that I've tested a good number of popular Amika thermal brush tools, given that I write about beauty on a daily basis.

I’ve probably tried everything, so whether it’s curling irons, blow dryers, or straighteners, I’m picky and just want the best of the best. I was essentially sold on the Blowout Babe Amika Thermal Brush ($100) without ever having touched it, which is practically unprecedented of for me, after watching a popular TikTok video of Devin Raimo using it.

Raimo claims in her video that she prefers theAmika thermal brush over the Dyson Airwrap, which is the hair styling tool I use the most. The difference was striking when she displayed one side of her hair that had been styled with a thermal brush and contrasted with the other side that had been air-dried.

My fine, thin hair gets frizzy and poofy when I let it air dry; it’s not the cute sort of wavy, more like the uneven, “what the f*ck is her hair doing?” kind of wavy. As a result, I don’t let my hair air dry; instead, I wash it no more than twice a week and have a blowout. The sheer quantity of flyaways I get if I decide to let my hair air dry before getting a blowout generally forces me to pull my hair into a slicked-back bun.

But ever since I acquired this tool, I’ve started air-drying my hair far more frequently, and when I’m done styling it, it looks so amazing that I can’t believe I went so long without it. To read my whole review of the product and to view the before and after pictures, continue reading.

About the Blowout Babe Amika Thermal Brush

    • Without a blow dryer, this hot gadget offers a bouncy blowout.
    • The tool has a 1.5-inch spherical ceramic brush-shaped barrel.
    • The cuticle is smoothed with the brush’s 0.5″ nylon bristles.
    • All hair kinds and textures can benefit from its 356 degree heating capacity.

What I Like About the Amika Blowout Babe Thermal Brush

The amount that this product reduces my frizz is my favorite feature. I was astonished to see how much this heat brushed smoothed my hair and got rid of all the poof I’d been accustomed to seeing when I used it for the first time on air-dried hair. Each and every time I use it, my hair stays silky smooth on the body, but I still get some frizz where my hair doesn’t get too much oil.

I adore that the round brush can produce multiple looks and is lightweight, manageable, and easy to use. With one easy tool, I can straighten my hair, give myself a bouncy blowout, or curl my hair. Moreover, it only takes a maximum of seven minutes to go over my whole head of hair.

I’ve tested this on a few of my pals who have much longer and thicker hair than me, and the results are always just as amazing. As I mentioned before, I have fine, thin hair. Even my useless friends who own a blow dryer and round brush set have mentioned how simple it is to get the hang of.

How to Use the Blowout Babe Amika Thermal Brush

There are several ways to use the product that the brand suggests. Use the brush in the same way as you would a regular round brush and blow dryer combination, but without the blow dryer, to get a blowout. It proposes turning the on/off button all the way up until it flashes red, which turns on the negative ion generator, if you want to give your hair extra shine or volume.

I love using this tool on air-dried hair when I have lots of time to get ready. I normally start my makeup after taking a shower and prepping my hair with a leave-in conditioner and heat protectant. I work with my hair with the Amika thermal brush once it has totally dried. I divide my hair into three portions, starting at the bottom and working my way up. I like to give myself a ’90s blowout by curling my ends under and inward, or I prefer to twist my hair away from my face and backward to give my ends a flipped-out appearance.

When I’m pressed for time, I use a blow dryer to swiftly dry everything entirely. I then divide my hair into sections and brush each piece with the thermal brush.

What to Consider Before Trying theBlowout Babe Amika Thermal Brush

Wet or damp hair cannot be treated with this product; it is only intended for use on dry hair. At first, I was unaware of this, but I’m glad I conducted some research on it. You’ll need to use a blow dryer or let your hair air dry entirely in order to utilize it, which will add a few more minutes to your styling time.

In addition, this Amika thermal brush doesn’t get as hot as other products I’ve used—it only reaches a temperature of 356 degrees. I actually enjoy the warmth, so this hasn’t been a problem for me, but if you’re someone who prefers your tools to be hotter, it’s something to consider.

Is the Amika Blowout Babe Thermal Brush Worth the Splurge?

This device has been well worth the investment for my needs. But this probably isn’t the product for you if you’re searching for a blow-dryer brush that can also style your hair. This product is invaluable, in my opinion, whether you’ve been searching for a simple technique to style your hair after it’s air dried or the ideal way to reduce frizz.
