We glanced up from our phones and noticed that it was October. We have the Autumn Fashion Styles inspiration you need, so check out our selection while you toss out your little tank tops and pull out your snuggly season knits from the back of your closet. Our team of astute shopping editors at Refinery29 searched reader-favorite store Free People for the fall items on our wish lists (yes, this is our job, and yes, we enjoy it!), and we’ve shared them with you below for your buying pleasure.

Free People has provided everything from warm tops (think: cashmere sweaters and oversized sweatshirts) to striking capes and statement denim styles (think: barrel-leg jeans) for fall. We have everything you need (and more) below, whether you’re looking for new jeans, a dress suitable for the cold weather, or boots with a Western vibe for the upcoming change in temperature. See 16 seasonally-appropriate looks that we want to include into our autumnal ensembles as soon as the leaves begin to change colour by scrolling down.

Free People Porta Cashmere Henley, £158

Aside from appearing to be the cosiest, warmest garment to tuck into on a cool autumn day (cashmere for less than £200? Hi there!), I have a serious obsession with this rich, warm, chocolate brown colour. I can’t wait to wear it with all of my autumnal wardrobe’s mustard yellows, berry reds, and forest greens. Additionally, I think it will be a perfect neutral backdrop for autumnal trends from last year that I’m eager to wear again, like leopard print and pops of cherry red (surprising red theory!). We The Free Good Luck Barrel Dungarees, £140

“Dungarees are something I’ve never owned, but now is the perfect time to try them out with the popular barrel-leg style. After all, what could be more comfortable than something you can throw on?” As autumn deepens, I believe these wide, curving legs and wash look amazing paired with a crop top or jumper for activities like apple picking or simply taking my dog for walks in the park. — Affiliate Coordinator Becca Sax

    Free People Reggie Blazer, £168

“During this season, one item of clothing that I consistently reach for is an oversized blazer. I knew this plaid, retro-inspired version would play a major role in my autumnal outfit as soon as I saw it. Any ensemble will seem instantly more put together with this type of silhouette and pattern, which is timeless. This will undoubtedly be worn with jeans, a solid t-shirt, and a wool beanie or baseball cap. — Senior Writer Venus Wong

We The Free Good Good Turtleneck, £34

    Good Turtleneck

“I genuinely think you can never have too many turtlenecks—I live in thin, layerable ones throughout the winter. I’ll be adding We The Free’s Good Good Turtleneck to my rotation well in advance of fall. I can already picture how I’m going to wear it: alone with a corduroy miniskirt for a nice date, or layered under a blazer with jeans for a more dressy, work-appropriate look. Writer Karina Hoshikawa, Senior

We The Free Good Luck Mid-Rise Barrel Jeans, £98

“I adore baggy jeans, especially in the milder months of fall when you can wear them with little tanks and sandals in the warmer months and bulky knitwear and ankle boots in the cooler months. Since they are under £100, these shoes from We The Free seem like the ideal way to try out the style without going over budget. As we all know, the “barrel” silhouette has been popular for a few seasons. They also come in standard, short, and tall lengths and fourteen distinct washes. — Kate Spencer, Senior Manager of Affiliate Partnerships

    Free People Chloe Jacket, £188

    Chloe Jacket

“This cropped, quilted jacket is everything to me, especially with the gingham print. The lightweight cotton, button-free shape feels like the ideal garment to layer for summer to fall attire. On warmer days, I’d wear it with a crop top, and on colder days, I’d wear it with a long-sleeve jumper. — Autumn Fashion Styles writer Victoria Montalti, associate

FP Collection Brayden Western Boots, £268

“Not to get all Mean Girls on you, but I saw Maggie Rogers at the concert recently, and she looked amazing in silver cap-toe Western boots. I now need silver cap-toe Western boots.” Like Maggie, I’ll be rocking them with a graphic vintage tee and black wide-leg jeans for a laid-back, off-duty ’70s look (We The Free’s Libre Jeans are my faves). At 5’2″, the shorter inseam option fits me perfectly. Writer Esther Newman, an affiliate

Free People Classic Striped Oversized Crewneck, £88

I find this big, striped long sleeve very nostalgic; it nearly looks like something I could find at the back of my dad’s wardrobe or in a vintage store. I would wear this to work out as an extra layer or to lounge about my flat. I would also pair it with wide-leg jeans for a relaxed coffee run. — Kate Spencer, Senior Manager of Affiliate Partnerships

We The Free Level Up Slit Slim Flare Jeans, £78

    Slit Slim Flare Jeans

“A few years ago, I was a latecomer to the incredible comeback of flare jeans. As a 5’2” female, I always assumed bell bottoms would make me appear shorter, but when worn correctly, they really give the impression of adding several valuable inches to your height. I’m looking to expand my collection, and I think I’ll get this pair from We The Free. The many washes are great, but my favourite is Ridge Grey, a faded charcoal. In addition, the split-hem element gives it a little of edge and lets me show off my boots of choice. Writer Karina Hoshikawa, Senior

Free People Little Secret Round Sunglasses, £24

    Round Sunglasses

“I’m adding these circular wire-frame sunglasses to my collection of sunglasses because I believe one can never have too many (I think I have over ten pairs that I rotate in and out of). Because they go well with the colour scheme of my fall attire, I really like the ones with smokey brown and copper lenses. — Fashion writer Victoria Montalti, associate

Free People Talk Of The Town Coat, £448

    Town Coat

If there’s one thing Free People always excels at (and they excel at a lot), it’s outerwear. Uniquely cool and revitalising interpretations of the traditional Penny Lane coat. This one is the ideal festive garment, with its warm caramel colour scheme, thick fluffy fur inside, and autumnal embroidery motifs.” Writer Esther Newman, an affiliate

We The Free Camden Henley Sweatshirt, £88

    Camden Henley Sweatshirt

I will wrap myself in a heavy sweater as soon as the leaves begin to turn red and there is a slight chill in the air. This henley-style pullover in particular appeals to me because of its flowy fit, exposed seams, and stylish yet carefree shade of heather green. This sweatshirt looks great with a pleated miniskirt and knee-high leather boots, but it will also look great worn at home with cosy leggings. — Senior Writer Venus Wong

Free People Hampton Mini Dress, £158

     Hampton Mini Dress

“I am a total dresser, regardless of the season, and I’m constantly searching for Autumn Fashion Styles yet work-appropriate clothes. I adore this dress’s silhouette and how I can accessorise it with different shoes and accessories to dress it up or down. For my 9 to 5 job, I see myself wearing sneakers and a cardigan. For dinner and drinks, I see myself wearing knee-high boots or heels and some statement jewellery.” — Affiliate Coordinator Becca Sax

Free People Nocturnal Solid Cardi, £118

    Nocturnal Solid Cardi
    Image// Worldglamz

“Anyone who knows me knows that in the autumn and winter, I live in a cardigan. I adore this specific style’s somewhat shrunken form. Although I like neutral colours, the Nocturnal Cardi is available in five additional colourways, including a vibrant violet and jade green. A black jumper is a staple of my daily ‘uniform’. If that’s more your style, there are even variants with cheetah and camo prints! — Kate Spencer, Senior Manager of Affiliate Partnerships

We The Free Deep Trance Dropped Boyfriend Jeans, £88

     Dropped Boyfriend Jeans
    Image// Worldglamz

I was drawn to this pair of jeans by We The Free because I adore stiff denim wide-leg jeans. Wearing this worn-in black wash and loose fit, which subtly creates a barrel-leg silhouette, is ideal for all my favourite informal fall activities, including strolling around the farmers’ market and collecting apples. — Autumn Fashion Styles writer Victoria Montalti, associate

We The Free In A Daze Pullover, £140

     Daze Pullover
    Image// Worldglamz

In my ideal world, I would dress in comfortable pullover sweaters, especially the In A Daze Pullover from Free People, which is the epitome of this classic look. I adore everything about it, except the fact that I don’t own it (yet). I adore the cable knit detail, and the somewhat cropped, boxy cut looks amazing on small frames like mine. I’m trying not to add every hue to my order, but I’ll start with Uncut Emerald—the most gorgeous shade of dark green. Writer Karina Hoshikawa, Senior
