It can be challenging to dress like a woman in your thirties. Achieving your ideal look as an adult woman is one of the many difficulties that come with being a woman in this decade.

You might have been able to wear anything when you were in your twenties. But when you’re thirty years old, the cards are higher.

The days of throwing on any random item and running out the door are long gone if you want to look your best and be taken seriously (though that wasn’t cool in your twenties either). You can’t just show up for work wearing a top that is too tight or a dress that you know for sure is way too short.

In your thirties, how you wear tells a lot about who you are.

Thankfully, wearing well in your thirties doesn’t have to be difficult. We’ll talk about how to dress for this decade and make it work for you in this tutorial on how to dress as a woman in your thirties.

Is dressing differently in your thirties as a woman a thing?

As we age, we are subject to certain expectations, whether we like it or not. This is applicable to both women and men; a mature, successful man in his thirties should have refined his sense of style from his undergraduate years.

Furthermore, don’t we set higher standards for ourselves as we become older? Greater expectations for our appearance, conduct, and even the way we select the guys in our lives (ugh, that last one especially)?

Though it’s taken me far too long to get here, I believe that at 31, I’m done shopping for crop tops at Topshop. In an article titled “How to Dress in Your Thirties” on Refinery29, Sarah Raphael states, “Suddenly, I want to look put together and polished instead of scrappy.” However, it is also unsurprising that a multitude of demonstrators are included in the article’s comments area.

“Hey, miss me and this garbage. I’ll keep dressing anyway the F I want, save for when I have to go to work,” one comments.

“Girl, what????” Absolutely nobody is concerned. Reject this age-appropriate nonsense. Tell me about one striking, independent, fearless woman who has embraced it, whether or not she wears clothes. This will only make you more self-conscious, and that’s what will actually kill you. pens a different one.

As corny as it may sound, ladies, age-appropriate clothing really does exist. And we’re all for it over here on this blog!

It is in no way negative to experiment with dressing like a woman in her forties. Actually, it’s a chance. You have the chance to update your clothing and get a more polished appearance than before.

Is age-appropriate dressing an outdated concept?

It’s evident that modern women—millennial women in particular—hate “rules” and “boxes.” And while I support a woman’s right to wear skimpy dresses and booty shorts at any age, I also believe that many women experience an internal transition. a change in our preferences, way of life, aspirations, maturity, and perceptions of the outside world.

The mindset that says, “Wear whatever you want, do whatever you want, no one cares,” is what confuses me. If we assume that “no one cares”—even though that’s a load of nonsense—what about you? Don’t YOU need to be concerned?

I also had a free-for-all mentality when I was 21. I used to usually leave the house in flip-flops and sweatpants. In the summer, my shorts were plainly too long if you couldn’t see the crease beneath my butt.

But now that I’m in my 30s, having travelled extensively, lived a little, and developed as a woman, there are just some things I don’t really care for anymore. Are you able to connect?

It’s an inside change that shows up on the outside. This is not to mean you should give up on your values, charisma, sex appeal, or anything else. It’s a lovely transition to embrace that change and to look nicely for a thirty-something woman.

Having said that, here are some fashion advice for a stylish and well-groomed woman in her thirties.

    1. Ditch graphic tees

    Ditch graphic tees

I’m not advocating that you get rid of every Hot Topic shirt you own. However, you might be able to save them for cleaning or the back of your wardrobe. Giving up graphic tees and anything else that makes your body look like a walking billboard for advertising is a must for any well-dressed lady in her 30s.

Mature style calls for you to invest in some exquisite blouses rather than cotton t-shirts.

    2. Upgrade your tank tops

    Upgrade your tank tops

Throw away your spaghetti strap tops and cotton tanks (yes, the Hollister ones you’ve had since high school) as well as your graphic t-shirts. Swap them out for superior satin or silk substitutes. For nighttime outings, you can wear them as a seductive separate or below your jackets.

    3. Upgrade your shoe game

    Upgrade your shoe game

Your shoe game needs to alter (or at least ought to) if you’re a mature woman trying to figure out how to dress in your 30s. Yes, burn them—the rubber flip-flops, the soiled sneakers, the crocs.

An elegant and comfortable pair of flats is an essential addition to any classic woman’s wardrobe. Although soft ballet flats are fine, a well-made, structural pair of flats with a small heel instantly improves any casual ensemble. A superb pair of Chelsea boots can be dressed up or down, and they go well with almost any ensemble if comfort is your top goal.

    4. Draw a line between your going-out heels and your work heels

    going-out heels and work heels

Heels with two functions? We believe not. The heels you wear for a date should be quite different from those you wear to work.

I don’t care what anyone says; kitten heels aren’t the best; professional heels should be kept between kitten level and 4 inches. At work, you should provide a professional image rather than appear as though you’re walking a runway. For nights out, pull out those skyscraper stilettos.

    5. Swap low-rise (skinny jeans too) for high-waisted jeans

Swap low-rise (skinny jeans too) for high-waisted jeans

High-rise jeans are essential, don’t they, even if low-rise jeans might make you appear fatter and shorter? Ladies in their thirties look so elegant in high-rise jeans. For all body types, high-rise jeans are also more attractive.

Make sure the low-rise jeans you choose to wear fit you slimly. If not, it will be challenging for thirtysomething women to pull off the look without being frumpy or dowdy. Furthermore, thin jeans are plain garish.

    6. Own more slacks than jeans

Even if we adore a good pair of jeans, pants are sophisticated and stylish for women in their thirties. You may wear these semi-formal trouser alternatives with anything.

Wear a basic white cotton t-shirt to dress down a pair of pants or a gorgeous top and a well-fitting jacket to dress them up. Possessing a good selection of well-fitting pants will ensure that you are prepared for any circumstance.

    7. Embrace white slacks or jeans

    Embrace white slacks or jeans

Not only should you love slacks, but you should also value a good pair of white jeans or slacks. White trousers in the summertime give you a super-fresh, put-together and sharp look. White jeans can appear quite classy and refined in the winter.

    8. Invest in the best outerwear

You can get away with wearing shabby sweatshirts and hoodies while you’re a teenager. Past that, you can do better boo. Investing in high-quality gear, such as a trench coat, winter coat, or blazer, is absolutely worth it.

You should be able to drop off your outerwear to the coat check at a classy restaurant without feeling self-conscious as a woman dressed in her thirties. A sophisticated coat is another easy way to seem incredibly sophisticated.

    9. Ditch the fake jewelry

    Ditch the fake jewelry

It’s time to retire those cubic zirconia studs you bought for yourself when you were fifteen if they’re still leaving a green ring around your ear.

When you reach your thirties, finally treat yourself to some real diamonds and get rid of the imitation jewellery you’ve been getting away with. If the cost isn’t quite there, That’s what guys are for, sweetheart (just kidding).

    10. Invest in high-quality underwear

Your pants is one of the best investments you can make as a mature woman in her 30s, and it’s an investment that pays off handsomely. It’s time to consider where your money is going, whether that means replacing a few silk panties or purchasing some well-fitting bras!

For the women in the back, I also rant about how unacceptable panty lines are in my tutorial on how to look put together. To prevent this faux pas, you don’t have to go commando or spend the entire day in knickers with an elastic band up your butt, unlike what the public believes. Shapewear is one wonderful alternative for avoiding unsightly panty lines and also will snap everything into place.

    11. Splurge on your handbag in your thirties

Splurge on your handbag in your thirties

Even for running errands, you can’t use that free shopping tote you got from Victoria’s Secret as your go-to bag. The handbag makes the woman, if shoes make the guy.

Think twice before spending a lot of money on a stylish designer bag from brands like CÉLINE or Prada. You will benefit from this investment for many years to come. This collection of reasonably stylish designer bag dupes is helpful if purchasing a designer handbag is out of your price range as well.

    12. Keep your sneakers at the gym

Keep your sneakers at the gym

Alright, they are not required to physically attend the gym every day. But realise that wearing running shoes is only appropriate when you’re out for a run with a companion. Wearing them to work or for any other purpose is not appropriate.

Regular wear will cause your trainers to age more quickly, so it’s better to store them at the gym.

    13. Say goodbye to bodycon

    Say goodbye to bodycon

Say no to bodycon skirts and dresses! And let’s save those for the younger girls, regardless of how wonderful your body is.

Swap out the form-hugging, tight-fitting clubwear for a few sophisticated, sophisticated, yet still attractive options. Cocktail dresses are perfect for practically every formal or semi-formal event, including jury duty, business holiday parties, weddings, and workplace parties. They don’t have to be really skin-tight to be incredibly seductive.

    14. Get your clothes tailored

Unfitting clothing is the exact opposite of what a lady should wear in her 30s. It gives you an untidy, sloppy appearance. Every piece of apparel you add to your wardrobe as a smart woman should suit you perfectly.

Remember that an item can still be fitted to perfection even if it does not fit well when it is purchased off the rack! To rapidly elevate an ill-fitting dress, trousers or jacket, all you need to do is take it to a tailor. One simple method to elevate your style and seem like a million bucks is to get your clothes fitted.

    15. Invest in quality workout outfits

Sure, it can be alluring to spend $10 on each pair of leggings at Forever 21 or to shop obsessively on websites like Hello Molly or SHEIN. However, the truth is that these fast fashion shops hardly ever carry high-quality pieces that would look good on you as an adult — exercise attire is not an exception.
